Trade Promotion in the New International Order
2nd World Conference of TPOs – Santiago, Chile, 1998
ProChile hosted the 2nd World Conference of Trade Promotion Organizations (TPOs) in Santiago from 20 to 22 October 1998.
Representatives of 86 TPOs, from 66 countries and five continents, reaffirmed their commitment to the principles and practices of free trade, and recognized the promotion of foreign trade as a tool that contributed both to the expansion of free trade and to the development of the private sector.
The conference defined foreign trade promotion as an investment tool for securing equity, through its potential to create opportunities, wealth and quality of life.
